Mission Statement
The primary function of the Human Resources/Civil Service/Safety Risk is the development and administration of Cameron County. Assist in the development and administration of County Personnel Policies and Procedures to assure compliance with Federal, State and County laws and regulations; supervisory and staff development training; and providing staff support. The Human Resources/Civil Service/Safety Risk Department serves as a resource to various departments and officers in Cameron County in all areas of personnel administration. This may include: recruitment, testing, interviewing, progressive discipline, and benefits administration. Other responsibilities include the review, analysis, and coordination of all Human Resources request to Commissioners' Court for appropriate action, assisting in the budgetary process, and conduct special employees studies, e.g. Department of Justice Census, Department of Labor Census and Workforce Diversification Reports. A resource for all Cameron County employees as it relates to Health Benefits Plan, Workers Compensation, Human Resources Policies and Procedures. Coordination of open enrollment for health plan, Insurance code 125 Cafeteria Plan, Health Fairs, Training as they relate to professional growth, safety and DOL mandates.
