Homestead Exemptions

There are several Property Tax Exemptions that Taxpayers may take advantage of, in order to receive a tax break from their property taxes.

Homestead Exemption:

A Taxpayer may apply for a homestead exemption only on their principal residence. The Homestead exemption removes part of the property's value, on qualifying tax entities, thus lowering the taxes due on the property. The Homestead Exemption Application must be filed with the Cameron County Appraisal District. You may also pick up and fill out an application at our Tax Office Department and our office will forward completed application to the Cameron County Appraisal District.

Other Exemptions include:

  • Over 65 Exemption
  • Disabled Person Exemption
  • Disabled Veteran Exemption
