The CCRMA's 2nd Causeway Project

Cameron County Precinct 3 Commissioner David A. Garza attended Hidalgo County Commissioner's Court asking for approval of a resolution in support of the Cameron County RMA project, which would provide for a second causeway to South Padre Island, joining the mainland and the island at the northern end and alleviating much of the heavy congestion that is currently experienced along the Queen Isabella Causeway. Mario Jorge, TxDOT Pharr District Engineer, was also in attendance to describe the project. The presenters discussed a Public Hearing regarding the project and a draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) which details the environmental impact of the proposed project. Commissioners' Court approved the resolution of support, which bears no fiscal impact on the County. For more information on the project, visit http://www.cameroncountyrma.org/SPI2ndAccess.
