Mission Statement:
The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactical mission is to protect and serve the citizens of this county by minimizing danger and inconvenience to the public while maximizing the safety of the public and police personnel. The S.W.A.T. team will at times face situations which involve a greater potential for criminal violence; which place extra demands on departmental manpower and resources. The S.W.A.T. team will encounter situations such as a barricaded suspect, sniper incident, hostage taking or riots that pose extreme danger to officers and the public. The S.W.A.T team will serve high risk warrants that may involve circumstances of increased danger to the officer and the public. Special events; such as a visiting dignitary or spring break require advance planning and allocation of resources.
Our goals are to resolve, utilizing special equipment and procedures to all critical incidents and to provide support to other units of the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office or other law enforcement agencies.
